The Carphone Warehouse eye openers – www.carphonewarehouse.com This video shows how to customise your homescreen with any widgets, shortcuts or create new folders. 1. Go to the home screen of the Android device (Press the “Home” key). 2. Make sure that there is enough free space on your home screen. 3. Choose an empty space, tap the space and hold your finger there (long press) until the menu appears. Alternatively, you can press the “Menu” button and then press the “Add” button that should now be available on the screen. 4. Both methods should have resulted in a pop-up menu-window labelled “Add to Home screen”. Tap the menu item labelled Shortcuts / Widgets / New folder 5. Navigate through the list of installed shortcuts and select the one you want to place on the home screen. In the video, James has opted to create a ‘direct dial’ and ‘direct message’ shortcut 6. Click on the selected shortcut to add it to your home screen. 7. Press the “Home” key. The new shortcut should appear on the home screen (or wallpaper). 8. To relocate the shortcut, tap it and hold your finger down. Now you should be able to drag it to the location on the screen that you want. Folders work slightly differently. Use the menu or ‘long press’ and then add ‘folder’ — you can then name this folder and then drag anything that is on the screen to go into the folder. In the video, James drags both a shortcuts that he created earlier into the folder. When you decide you no longer need a widget

iPhone 4 Left Hand Antenna Issue

Posted by admin under Chicks on Monday Mar 21, 2011

What happens to the 3G data rate when you hold the iPhone 4 using your bare left hand? This issue has been widely reported and it does not seem to affect everyone, but I have isolated it on my phone to a bare-skin connection between the antennae on the left (volume button) side of the phone. I could not replicate it by connecting the antennae on the right side. My normal left-handed grip on the phone causes the signal to drop both when I am talking (I have experienced dropped calls, but they are more difficult to quantify meaningfully) and when I am using the data connection. Although I am holding the phone a bit oddly in the video to keep it in frame, it does not take an unusual grip to produce this result. I tried the test after washing and drying my hands thoroughly and it produced the same results . Some say that this was also an issue on the 3G and 3GS, but that was not my experience with the 3G. I no longer have AT&T service on my 3G to test this, however. The obvious and easy solution here is to use a case (I have verified that a case solves the problem), but it is more than a little disconcerting that Apple either missed or chose to overlook this issue. UPDATE (2010/07/03): After a solid week of reviews and testing, Anandtech has posted the most accurate and thorough review of the problem that I have seen. I highly recommend this read to understand the problem: www.anandtech.com

E113: iPhone vs. Blackberry

Posted by admin under Chicks on Thursday Dec 9, 2010

www.drj0k3r.wordpress.com is where you can find more of my content and a link to my Flickr feed and http is where you can stalk me. Mind you, this is only a taste of videos to come. I have much more to say on this topic, but had to constrain my thoughts into a 10 minute segment. So take it with a grain of salt and feel free to post your opinions. A lot of what I said, though I won’t deny, may seem a bit brash. But they aren’t without their points. So please don’t take any offense. At the end of the day, they’re just gadgets. If I poke fun at one or the other, it is not a personal attack on your self-esteem. Cheers!

Free iPhone Giveaway!!

Posted by admin under Chicks on Monday Sep 20, 2010

Here´s the link: www.bidray.com The iPhone (pronounced EYE-fohn) is a line of Internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The first iPhone was introduced on January 9, 2007.[6] An iPhone functions as a camera phone, including text messaging and visual voicemail, a portable media player, and an Internet client, with e-mail, web browsing, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The user interface is built around the device’s multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard rather than a physical one. Third-party applications are available from the App Store, which launched in mid-2008 and now has well over 200000[7] “apps” approved by Apple. These apps have diverse functionalities, including games, reference, GPS navigation, social networking, and advertising for television shows, films, and celebrities. There have been four generations of iPhone hardware, and they have been accompanied by four major releases of iOS (formerly iPhone OS). The original iPhone established design precedents like screen size and button placement that have persisted through all models. The iPhone 3G brought 3G cellular network capabilities and A-GPS location. The iPhone 3GS brought a compass, faster processor, and higher resolution camera, including video. The iPhone 4 has two cameras for FaceTime video calling and a higher resolution display. It was released on June 24, 2010 in certain countries and is in the process of being released worldwide. The iPad is a tablet computer
