On my post-grad course recently I was dismayed and how empty-headed some of the girls were, and one of them actually said that men can learn everything about what girls are like by watching Sex and the City.
I’d consider myself to be something of a femenist, and I find Sex and the City to be the vilest show on the planet; I’ll admit I haven’t seen the film, but Keromde’s comments seem to ring true for me.

@gsian187 I didn’t like Kermode until I found we both loved Assassination of Jesse James; since then I’ve been coming to the slow realisation that we share many similar tastes.

anyway, in my opinion this film is SHALLOW and DISGUSTING in every way. no it’s not realistic but most people actually believe it is(yes they really do)
it is consumer porn and it is the lowest of the low in terms of filmmaking.

The pseudo-argument “They’re shallow and slutty” has been used and, for people who follow the show, doesn’t cut the mustard. SATC has always been about the products. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t fun, and of course it’s not realistic — in short a fairy tale comes to mind.And he wants the movie to make some serious political statement or what, and he questions their intelligence?? LOL. It’s entertainment. I LIKE it.

Film review gold. It was brilliantly finished though when Justine (? the woman in the studio) said “I’ll still go and see it though” and Kermode explodes in a big “NOOOO”.

@scazmaniac There ARE no wrinkles in photoshop land! And it’s sending out a great message to all the 30-40 bracket women who are meant to relate to them, because of course everyone lives in photoshop land and looks like them and has money coming out of their vaginas, so really I don’t know why so many women have breakdowns at that age, surely this is an accurate representation of the average woman?
