I’ve never had a problem with silver cufflinks; never had any stains. Another point: For a formal event one should never wear a watch. As it is a formal event, you wouldn’t need to be checking the time. And, please leave your cell phone off.

Should also have mentioned to never wear silver cuflinks with a white shirt as they will leave stains.
